Be a Sneaky Paintball Sniper

Perhaps no part of the paintball game mimics its real-life military counterpart more than that of the paintball sniper.

Whether in an assigned role in a scenario game, or just a standard style of play, these players are a special breed. They are lone, roving, independent players who know how to camouflage themselves well and have the patience to wait for their prey. Any team lucky enough to have a paintball sniper usually has a considerable advantage.

To be most effective, a player needs to get into the mindset of a paintball sniper before the game starts. Plan your strategy with your team. Partner with someone who can trade out scouting and sniper duties with you.

Camouflage is a most important asset for the sniper. Needless to say, your paintball gun should have a reputation for long range, quiet operation, and accurate placement. This is no place to try to get by with a lower-end paintball marker.

As a paintball sniper, you must learn to use the surrounding trees, brush, and ground slopes to your advantage. You don't want to be too far away from the action, but you don't want to be too close either.

Your goal should be to try to quietly and discretely eliminate just a couple of enemies at a time. Learn to move quietly and quickly. Your biggest asset is the element of surprise on the battlefield. Try not to step on dried leaves or twigs than can make unexpected loud sounds.

You should try to stay in one location, and stay hidden. If you do your job as a paintball sniper well, you will be able to shoot at and hit targets for long periods of time, and your enemy won't be able to detect your location.
