Since the early 1980's, paintball has grown in popularity as a sport/game, and now there are millions of paintball fans the world over.

Scenarios, as the name implies, means you sign up for an organized game, and you are assigned not only to a team, but to a role that you will play.

Roles are often the same as in the real world, such as pilots, demolition engineers, medics, and so on. Finally, tournament paintball is super-organized, involving teams, leagues, standings, and often, cash prizes!

Paintball game strategy and tactics are important skills. Often, teams make use of paintball snipers, who hide in the trees and bushes and furtively splat their enemies.

Snapshooting is a rapid-fire shooting skill, where a player jumps out of a hiding place and rapidly shoots at multiple enemies without getting hit. This is an important skill to have for speedball, which is often a part or tournament play.

Occasionally, teams will use smoke as camouflage or to distract and deceive enemy teams. In a paintball game as on a real battlefield, this can be very effective if used correctly.
